BATTLE CREEK – The state record book will be filled with Niles Vikings after their state title run this past weekend.
The Lady Vikings set a new record for home runs in their 8-1 win over Clio in the Division 2 semifinals on Friday.

The previous record was two, set by Ann Arbor St. Thomas in 1972 and tied by Saginaw Nouvel in 1999.
Jenna Ignowski's two round-trippers were also a state record.. Fellow seniors Nellie Coquillard and Maggie Ernsberger also homered in the contest.
Ignowski, who hold many state pitching records, including 86 shutouts, also tied the record by going 4-for-4 at the plate on Friday.
Four other players have also had four hits, including former Brandywine standout Nikisha Washington.
Washington had four hits to help lead the Lady Bobcats to the 2001 Division 3 state title.
