To the editor:

The 17th annual Letter Carriers Food Drive was another wonderful success. despite the cold and wet weather the grand total for Niles and Associate Offices, NALC Branch 775, was 52, 758 pounds.

Niles, Buchanan, Berrien Springs, Dowagiac, New Buffalo, Three Oaks and Galien Post Offices, had a good turnout of volunteers and customers wishing all well. The hard work paid off although last year’s total was larger at 63,579 pounds. We consider our total food amount a huge gift with the economic hard times we are living in.

Many thanks too our donors for food for workers on Food Drive day: Martin’s, Taco Bell, Hardees, Hackers, McDonald’s, Saylor’s, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, Wings, etc. and Milano’s.

Special thanks to United Way of Greater Niles, NALC Branch 775, our hard working volunteers, our local newspapers, radio stations and yard sign customers for coverage of our food drive.
