David Leon French, 68, of Howard Street, Niles, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at home.
No services will be held. Cremation has taken place.
He was born on Oct. 5, 1940, in Mishawaka, Ind. to Virgil A. and Thelma A. French.
A house painter, he was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Niles.
He lived here since 1988, coming from Texas.
In 1962, he married Rose French, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Sobieralski.
Surviving family includes three sons, Michael Avery French of Elkhart, Ind., James Leon French of South Bend, Ind. and Timothy Paul French of Niles; two daughters, Barbara Lee Dearing of Fort Worth, Texas and Wanda Elizabeth Kugle of South Bend, Ind.; nine grandchildren and three sisters, Wanda Mae Whitmer of Walkerton, Ind., Thresa Platt of Niles and Deanna French of Niles.
Arrangements were by Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
