Tommy Max Thomas, 55, of Elkhart, Ind., died on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at his niece's home at 1900 E. Winn Road, Niles.
He was raised mainly in Niles and attended Niles Schools.
His passion was working in the yard and doing landscape jobs. Truly an outdoorsman, NASCAR was another joy. Sterling Marlin, Tony Stewart and Mark Martin were his favorites.
Survivors include his fiancee, Toni Scott of Elkhart, Ind.; two sons, Jason Fernwalt of Mishawaka, Ind. and Tommy Max Thomas, Jr. of Niles; his mother, Imogene Thomas of Niles; sisters, Wilma (Bill) Zimmerman, Kathy Thomas of Niles Brenda (Marvin) Balentine of Mishawaka, Ind.; brothers, Danny Thomas of Grand Rapids and Randy (Jackie) Thomas of Three Rivers; 12 nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvel Lee and a great-niece, Ava Zimmerman.
