Each year First Presbyterian Church of Buchanan, Michigan sponsors a sixth grade essay contest on how to be a peacemaker. This year's award winner is Marissa Claxton. Marissa's essay was on making peace with the earth. She received an award certificate and a $50 check from the church.
Pastor Patricia Ramsden noted, "This award is one way we reach into the community and help our children learn the importance of peace in our world, our community, and our lives. We want to recognize too the dedication of our teachers as they teach these important lessons."
