JONES – In a tale of true, unfailing friendship, author Aaron Fisher brings abuse and redemption together in his new juvenile fiction book, "Leo and Donnie."
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book releases nationwide this week.
Leonard Faye always wanted a brother, but never got one. Short, quiet, and an only child, Leo is an outcast at school, finding himself the target of teasing and laughter.
Then he meets Donnie Southland, who matches him in height and lack of siblings.
A friendship is forged as the two teach each other everything from Mark Twain and football to self-confidence against bullies.
As the friendship grows, Leo notices telltale signs that maybe the two friends aren't as alike as he'd originally thought.
Motherless and living with an alcoholic father, Donnie remains upbeat by learning about Jesus from going to church with the Faye family.
A tragic turn of events sends the boys into life-changing whirlwind, bringing Leo and Donnie closer to brothers than friends.
The book is available at any bookstore nationwide or can be ordered through the publisher at
"Leo and Donnie" is also an eLIVE title, meaning each copy contains a code redeemable for a free audio download of the book from the publisher's website.
Fisher pent the majority of his 27 years living in northern Indiana as the middle child of three boys.
A graduate from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, he is currently building his own practice in Jones in eastern Cass County.
