Post season action will continue for a pair of softball teams on Saturday as Niles and Buchanan try to continue their runs toward a state championship.
The Lady Vikings (30-5) are ranked No. 10 in Division 2.
Niles will take on No. 2 ranked Wayland-Union in the first game at Edwardsburg High School on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The winner will take on either South Haven or Comstock, a pair of Wolverine Conference teams, in the championship game at approximately 3 p.m.
The Lady Bucks (32-8) will face Lawton in the Division 3 regional semifinal at Constantine High School.
Buchanan is making its fourth consecutive trip to the regional tournament.
The winner of the Buchanan-Lawton contest, which will also be played at 10 a.m., will take on either Bronson or Kalamazoo Christian.
We would like to wish good luck to both teams and are hoping that their respective seasons will continue into next week.
Niles captured the Division 2 regional title in 2008, but were defeated in the quarterfinals by eventual state champion Wyoming Rogers.
Bronson knocked out the Lady Bucks of the state tournament in the regional semifinals.
If you haven't had a chance to get out and see either of these two outstanding softball teams, Saturday will be a great opportunity to do that.
Edwardsburg and Constantine high schools will provide a chance to see some high quality softball being played.
It only cost $5 to get in, so it's a bargain. And let's face it, Edwardsburg and Constantine are just not that far away.
So fans, get out there and show support for your favorite team as they try to inch closer to Battle Creek and a shot at a state title.
