VANDALIA – Northern Indiana Mountain Bike Association will be hosting a mountain bike time trial series (five races) in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan in 2009.
The first time trial is June 7 at Dr. T. K. Lawless Park in Vandalia.
The race begins at 10 a.m. with registration at 9 a.m. There will be five categories of racers: Expert/Elite Men, Single Speed, Sport Men, Beginner Men, All Women.
The time trial will be between 10-12 miles long. Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each category. Cost to enter per race is $20. The bike shop sponsor for this race is Cycle and Fitness Bike Shop in Niles.
Cycle and Fitness will be supporting the race with giveaways for a lot of the racers.
The next three races of the series are as follows:
Race No. 2, July 12, at Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty, 10 a.m.
Sponsorship: ProForm Bike Shop, South Bend.
Race No. 3, Aug. 2 at Imagination Glen, Portage, Ind., 10 a.m.
Sponsorship: Outback Trail Organization, Portage, Ind.
Race No. 4, Sept. 13 at Rum Village Park, South Bend, 10 a.m.
Sponsorship: Spin Zone Cycling Outfitters, Granger.
Each racer who finishes each race will collect points based on his/her category finish time and those points will add up to a series points total.
The person with the most points for the series will be the champion in his/her category and will receive a plaque at the conclusion of the Rum Village race on Sept.13.
