Safety camp for kids offered at Cass COA

CASSOPOLIS – Camp Safe Kids, a safety day camp for kids ages 9 to 11, will be June 15 at Cass County Council on Aging.
Applications are available by calling (269) 445-8110 or (800) 323-0390 or stopping by the Cass COA at M-60 and Decatur Road.
Up to 25 kids will be able to participate in the free event, which includes lunch and a continental breakfast.
Camp Safe Kids will teach safety in a hands-on environment where kids can learn from senior volunteers and safety professionals.
Camp Safe Kids will cover a variety of safety topics, including first aid, internet safety, tobacco prevention, abduction prevention, water safety, fire safety and traffic/bike safety.
Demonstrations and activities include the Smokehouse, Canine Unit demonstration and a Hot Line Electrical Safety demonstration from Midwest Energy.
The program is a cooperative effort between Penn Township Fire Department, Dowagiac Police Department, Dowagiac Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff's Office, Midwest Energy and Cass County COA.
