Paw Paw eliminates ‘Cats

COMSTOCK – Visiting Buchanan was the lone area soccer team to pick up a win on Tuesday in the opening round of district competition.
The Lady Bucks scored five first half goals en route to a 5-2 win over host Comstock.
Andrea Hemminger scored a pair of goals and Rachael Bahr had a goal and an assist for Buchanan, which will take on the winner of the Dowagiac-Edwardsburg match on Thursday.
The Eddies and Chieftains will have to resume their match today at 3:30 p.m. after it was stopped by a thunderstorm tied at 0-0.
Hemminger opened the scoring for the Lady Bucks in the sixth minute. She then made it 2-0 in favor of Buchanan five minutes later off an assist from Bahr.
Morgan French increased the lead to three goals in the 15th minute before Bahr found the back of the net one minute later to make it 4-0.
The Lady Bucks completed the scoring in the 20th minute on a goal by Amanda Wynn.
Comstock's to goals game in the 65th and 68th minutes.
Paige Barnes averted the shutout with the first of her two goals.
Chelsea Henry and Ciera Rueles picked up the assists for the Lady Colts.

PAW PAW – Three second half goals helped the host Lady Redskins eliminate defending district champion Brandywine from the post season.
Paw Paw grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jackie Wiles in the 25th minute off an assist from Caroline Rice.
The score remained that way the rest of the opening 40 minutes of play.
Nicole Crafts then got what turned out to be the winning goal in the 52nd minute with an assist from Selena Martinez.
The lead reached 3-1 on a goal in the 67th minute by Morgan Glomski with an assist from Rice.
The Lady Redskins completed their scoring when Rice found the back of the net on an unassisted goal in the 70th minute.
Brandywine's lone goal came in the 72nd minute by Emily Low.
The Lady Redskins will host South Haven, a 6-1 winner over Parchment Tuesday night, on Thursday.
