Thunderstorms that rolled through the area about an hour into the opening round of the district softball tournament forced the suspension of the games until this afternoon.
Division 3
BRIDGMAN – Lakeland Conference champion Buchanan, is holding a 3-0 lead with the game in the top of the fourth inning.
The Lady Bucks scored a run in the second on a RBI double by Devinn Adams and tagged two more in the third on a RBI double by Jayme O'Bryant and a sacrifice fly by Alexis Lenox off Brandywine pitcher Brande Overholt.
With Lenox in the circle the Bobcats had a runner, via a two out walk, on the base paths in the first inning. Delaina Schroeder was left stranded at first when Lenox picked up her first of six strikeouts recorded in the three innings played.
The game will continue today at 4:30 p.m.
The winner advances to Saturday's second semifinal to face host Bridgman at noon. Cassopolis will take on Berrien Springs in the first game at 10 a.m.
