Dowagiac baseball team down 2-1 against Bears

NILES – Cam Luther' two-run home run in the top half of the third inning staked the St. Joseph Bears to a 2-1 lead over Dowagiac in the Division 2 District baseball game at Niles High School Tuesday afternoon.
The game was halted in the top of the fourth when a thunderstorm roared through the area.
The Chieftains were able to cut the lead in half with a run in their half of the third inning on a RBI single by Zac Hyatt, which scored Tim DeRyder.
Play is scheduled to resume today at 5.

BRIDGMAN – The state's second ranked team will need to rally today if it wants to keep alive its hopes of heading back to Battle Creek.
Buchanan scored the only run of the game in the first inning.
With two outs Bryan Kuntz reached on an error and Evan Cauffman followed with an RBI single for the Bucks and a 1-0 lead with Tyler Knisely on the hill for the Bucks.
The game will pick up with the Bobcats batting with one out in the top of the fourth at 4:30 p.m.
