BENTON HARBOR – State Rep. John Proos announced Tuesday that Mary's City of David building, located in Benton Harbor, will be listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Mary's City of David nomination for the National Register of Historic Places came before the Michigan Historic Review Board in Lansing on Jan. 16, 2009.
"It is a great honor for Michigan's Great Southwest that Mary's City of David is now listed in the National Register of Historical Records," said Proos, R-St. Joseph. "This designation will help Mary's City of David remain living history and a tourism landmark in the community for many years to come."
Proos said this registration as an historic location makes Mary's City of David eligible for funding for federally assisted projects and tax benefits, if funding becomes available.
