Margaret Ann "Miggs" Perham, 80, of Dick Street, Niles, died on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at her home, following an extended illness.
There will be no services or visitation.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1928, in Niles, to Robert Allen and Vira Gertrude (Walter) Dittmer.
She was a lifetime resident of Niles and had been employed at Simplicity Pattern Company.
She was well known for her pie making. She was the champion at the pie contest at the first Apple Festival.
She enjoyed doing things for her family and others. She was a gentle spirit and well loved by all. She was noted for her beauty and kindness. Most of her life was dedicated to children. She always felt that the happiest time of her life was when her children were young.
She was a typical mother of the '50s. She always had meals on the table and cookies in the oven. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Dec. 23, 1945, in Roseland, Ind., she married Jack E. Perham, Sr., who survives.
Additional surviving family include her daughter, Ruthanne Tom; son, Jack E. Perham, Jr., both of Niles; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sisters, Betty Humphrey, Patricia Laskowski and Maureen (Barry) Mooney, all of Niles.
She was preceded in death by a son, James E. Perham, who died in 2008; brothers, Franklin Walter Dittmer, who died in 1941 and Robert Allen Dittmer, who died in 1942 and a sister, Diana Webber, who died in 1998.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
