NILES – Niles Garden Club, in conjunction with Four Flags Garden Club, will each hold a spring plant sale on Saturday, May 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., rain or shine, at Riverfront Park in downtown Niles.
Club members will be offering established plants for sale from their gardens.
Prices range from $1 to $5, with gallon plants for $4 or three for $10.
Plant-related decorator items will be available for purchase as well.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet local gardeners who enjoy talking about their favorite hobby. They can offer suggestions for what plants would work best in the shade or sun and what combinations would be unique and appealing.
This plant sale is held in conjunction with the Optimist Club Youth Spring Festival, occurring the same day at Niles Riverfront Park.
Both garden clubs offer an opportunity to anyone who wishes to learn about planting, pruning, landscaping with perennials and annuals or beautifying specific areas around their home or community.
Maintaining the gardens at the Niles historic Amtrak depot is the major community service project for the Four Flags club.
The group meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Niles Chamber of Commerce building.

One of the projects of Niles Garden Club is the Welcome to Niles Garden, which is where they get many of the plants for the sale.
