Wednesday, April 15
4 p.m. – Dr. Alan K. Montgomery's annual frame show until 7. Featured this year will be Rem Eyewear. Rem carries the lines of Jones of New York, Converse and Barbie. Silhouette will also be here with its "frameless" frames. Viva will be here with Candies, Harley Davidson and Tommy Hilfiger and, of course, Maui Jim will show sunglasses. Kathy Hoekstra, formerly of Pacific Quest, will again provide free neck and shoulder massages. There will be refreshments and a 15-percent discount on any frames purchased at the show. Join them for fun and to see what's new.
4 p.m. – Due to a scheduling conflict, the Van Buren/Cass District Board of Health meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, has been reset for April 15. The meeting will still take place at 4 p.m. at the Hartford facility, 57418 C.R. 681.
Thursday, April 16
11 a.m. – A free senior citizen luncheon, fully funded by the Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation, will be served Thursday, April 16, in the Union High School media center. There will be two servings – 11 a.m. to noon and 12 to 1 p.m. Kindly call Brenda at 782-4429 for reservations. Menu includes vegetable lasagna, salad, breadsticks, lemon bars, coffee and water. All food is prepared and served by DUHS students of Linda O'Keefe. The choir will sing.
7 p.m. – Grace Christian School, Watervliet, open house until 9 to give parents and other interested community members a look at the school. The event coincides with the school's science fair. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the school and interact with administrators, teachers and parents. GCS continues to grow. Visitors can see the new playground, art room, preschool room and newly-carpeted classrooms. Grace Christian serves families throughout Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties and is the only preschool-12, non-denominational Christian school in the three counties. Tuition discounts are available for first-time families. The school is located on M-140, about four miles south of Watervliet and two miles north of Napier Avenue. Friday, April 17
11 a.m. – Positively Dance Boosters fundraiser, Nelson's Port-a-Pit chicken, until 8 p.m. at Family Fare parking lot, M-51 South, Dowagiac. Dinners cost $7 each and include half a chicken, apple sauce, roll and dessert. Call Leslie Malin at (269) 591-1611 for tickets. Delivery available with minimum order.
5:30 p.m. – Art Bounce until 8:30 in downtown Sturgis. Bounce is an event similar to the South Bend Art Beat and the Kalamazoo Art Hop. Meet the artists, view the artwork, browse the shops and enjoy complimentary refreshments at this free event. The next Bounce event is scheduled for July 17, according to Sarah Kalasky at Open Door Gallery, 101 W. Chicago Road. Participating: Jo Ann Zabonick, floral pastels, at McGrady Jewelers; Audrey Hostetler, basket weaving, Willer's Shoes; Jan Thrasher, watercolors, Trio's Deli; Eric Fry, photography, Panache; and Lyndie Parrish, art glass, Open Door Gallery.
