Doris W. True, 86, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Elkhart, Ind., General Hospital.
She was born July 13, 1922, in Batavia, N.Y., the daughter of the late George B. and Mae H. (Hillabush) Waterman.
She graduated from South Byron, N.Y., High School in 1940.
Doris was married July 18, 1941, as Doris Waterman to Horace E. True in LeRoy, N.Y.
She had been the secretary for the superintendent of Batavia, N.Y., City Schools, retiring in 1977.
She and her husband then moved to Edwardsburg to be near their daughter, Peggy Long.
Surviving are: her husband, Horace E. True; two daughters, Linda M. (Dean) True of Indianola, Wash., and Peggy A. Long of Cassopolis; two grandchildren, Christine (Josh) Seiser of Blissfield and Todd (Nikki) Long of Edwardsburg; and five loving great-grandchildren.
Other family members are deceased, including a grandchild, Trevor Smith; brother, Clayton Waterman; and sister, Helen Lathan.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg.
Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor.
Cremation has taken place.
She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church.
