CCCD annual meeting March 26 at Lowe’s in Cass

CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Conservation District will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 pm, at the Edward Lowe Foundation.
In honor of those who have put conservation practices on the land and have supported conservation efforts in Cass County, the Conservation District will be presenting the following awards: Farmer of the Year – Kevin and Jill Hershberger, Kelsey Lake Farm; Groundwater Stewardship – Chad, Randy and Carl Burger, Oakwood Farms; Wildlife Conservation – Mike McCuistion and the Edward Lowe Foundation; Environmental Stewardship – Dane Terrill, Flowerfield Enterprises; and Educator of the Year – Sarah Porath, Marcellus Middle School.
Two four-year Board of Director positions are up for election.
Candidates are incumbents Curt Johnson and Kay McAdam, both running unopposed.
The evening will kick off with a welcome at the Edward Lowe Foundation Information Center, then proceed to the Conference Center, where Cass County's FFA Ag Issues team will be presenting their "CAFOs – Pros and Con" program.
Following this will be the election, a short business meeting and the awards presentation.
Dessert will be served during the evening.
