MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Local longtime recreational vehicle manufacturer Coachmen Industries received some welcome news Jan. 27 with a favorable verdict in its breach-of-contract and breach of warranty lawsuit against one of its suppliers regarding sidewall product failures.
Represented by the law firm of May Oberfell Lorber, Coachmen and four of its RV subsidiaries won on all seven counts in the suit tried in the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Indiana-South Bend.
The trial's remaining phase, scheduled for this fall, will determine the amount of damages Coachmen will receive. Coachmen has asserted claims for warranty-related expenses in excess of $19 million and total potential claims of over $85 million.
"We are very pleased with the victory in the liability phase and are cautiously optimistic about the final outcome of this matter," said W. Todd Woelfer, partner with May Oberfell Lorber and lead attorney for the firm's team handling the case. The team's other members were Christopher Putt, Georgianne Walker and Robert Palmer, all partners.
