BENTON HARBOR – The Lake Michigan College Mendel Center Mainstage Travel and Adventure Film Series concludes with its third and final presentation, "Vietnam – A Land of Surprises," featuring narrator Buddy Hatton, on Sunday, March 22, at 3 p.m.
Join professional traveloguer Buddy Hatton as he guides you through Vietnam, a country both familiar and mysterious.
Vietnam is fast, slow, traditional, cutting edge, exotic and familiar, and most of all, accessible.
The Vietnam of today is influenced not only by its ancient traditions and culture, but also by its checkered and often tragic past.
Most people know about this complex Southeast Asian country through the Vietnam War fought during the 1960s and '70s. But Vietnam is finding its way back to its ancient roots of serenity and family-oriented lifestyle.
Hatton reveals the incredible diversity of Vietnam from the orchards and fish farms of the Mekong Delta to the tropical beaches of Nha Trang, from the bustling cities of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Hanoi to the enchanting historical town of Hanoi An.
Hatton's film seeks to present Vietnam as it is today – an intriguing mix of Chinese and French influences.
Experience a country still unspoiled and tolerant, a country quite unique in the world.
Vietnam is in the midst of a cultural revolution and a new generation is taking over a land in which the past and present join in an exciting new manifestation.
Hatton has been involved in the entertainment industry both as a performer and as award-winning cinematographer.
