Dowagiac City Council this week expressed intent to sell property at 211 Sherwood St. to Svend Jorgensen, 405 W. High St., and Mark Gourley, 212 Sherwood St.
They submitted a $4,000 bid for the parcel, which contains a usable garage.
City Manager Kevin Anderson said their interest in the property is to properly maintain it, with the possibility of adding a house at some time in the future.
"The $4,000 bid will allow us to collect all of our costs associated with the acquisition, demolition of the prior structure and maintenance," Anderson advised council members.
The offer must remain "on the table" for 21 days, as required by a policy enacted June 21, 1993, before the council can take final action to complete the sale.
