Brandywine wrestlers win Dowagiac tourney

DOWAGIAC – Brandywine edged the host Chieftains and Niles to win the Dowagiac Middle School Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
The Bobcats, who had seven champions, finished with 36 points. Dowagiac, which had six champions, finished with 35 points, while Niles and its six champions finished with 34 points.
Berrien Springs finished fourth (31), St. Joe Upton fifth (30), Lakeshore sixth (28), South Haven seventh (21), Cassopolis eighth (19), Covert ninth (3) and Eau Claire 10th (2).
Winning championships for Brandywine were Jordan Oliver (100-B), Brandon Earles (105-A), Jake Wright (115-A), Karrington Penny (115-B), Alex Moreno (125-A), Chanc Ravish (125-B), Nathan Anders (145-B).
Dowagiac's champions were Ray Vega (80), Jason Weber (110-A), Brandon Pompey (137-B), Shane Filley (155-A), Ken Creameans (167-A) and Dallas Hale (185-A).
Winning titles for the Vikings were Casey Burandt (105-B), Kyle Anglin (110-B), Sean Morgan (137-A), Jacob Hill (155-B), Ryan Casey (167-B) and Derek Scott (heavyweight-C).
Cassopolis had two champions. They were Brandon James (120-A) and Ruben Martinez (heavyweight-B).
