Lowe nets 31 as Dowagiac wins

SOUTH HAVEN – Visiting Dowagiac snapped a four-game losing streak and picked up its third win of the season with a 62-43 victory over South Haven in a Wolverine Conference girls' basketball contest Tuesday night.
The Chieftains improved to 3-8 on the season and 3-6 in the league.
It was the second time this season that Dowagiac had beaten the Lady Rams. The Chieftains defeated South Haven 49-30 in their season opener back in December.
Dowagiac slowly but surely pulled away from South Haven throughout the contest.
Behind the play of the Wolverine Conference's leading scorer -Torie Lowe – the Chieftains grabbed a 14-10 first quarter lead and stretched it to 31-19 by halftime.
Dowagiac outscored South Haven 17-7 in the third quarter to turn the game into a blowout.
Lowe led all scorers with 31 points, while the Chieftains also got 12 points from Britnee Allerton and six points from Kayleigh Hutchings.
Allerton also grabbed 10 rebounds, including five offensive rebounds.
Tasia Diaz and Kaisha Martin both finished with four points.
Sara Parish-Reeves led the Lady Rams with 17 points. Christina Pigozzi added 13 points and Haley Bierhalter eight points.
The Dowagiac freshmen squad defeated South Haven 34-20 on Tuesday night.
Jacoya Brookins led the Chieftains with 12 points. Carly Polomcak and Regina Kennedy both finished with six points.
