Clarence E. Anderson, 83, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center.
Clarence's life began on Dec. 1, 1925, in Cassopolis, the son of Zack and Ethel V. (White) Anderson.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II from Okinawa, Japan.
He was united in marriage to Cassie Anderson, who preceded him in death in 1948.
Clarence worked in various factories in the area and for Tyler Automotive in Niles for several years.
He was a member of New Harvest Church in Dowagiac and loved spending time with his friends and always enjoyed conversation.
Clarence is survived by his companion Geraldine Flewellen of Dowagiac and a host of good friends and church family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a longtime companion Josephine Walker.
His friends will gather to honor his memory on Monday from noon until 1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Dowagiac where Pastor Tyrone Pace will officiate and Pastor Tonnie Blackamore will eulogize at Clarence's home going celebration to be held at 1 p.m. Monday. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Riverside Cemetery following the service.
