Local candidates who wish to seek office for the Dowagiac Union Schools Board of Education must file nominating petitions and affidavits of identity no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
A minimum of 40 valid signatures is required.
Or, a $100 non-refundable fee may be filed in lieu of nominating petitions.
One four-year seat, for a term ending June 30, 2013, will be placed on the ballot for the regular school election on Tuesday, May 5.
Petitions and affidavit forms can be obtained by contacting the Cass County Clerk-Register's Office at P.O. Box 355, Cassopolis, MI or by calling (269) 445-4464 or (269) 782-4405 for information.
The term expiring in 2009 is that of Michelle Helmuth.
