Edwardsburg wins own tourney

EDWARDSBURG – Josh Klosinski and Tyler Schmitt both picked up their 100th career victories Saturday afternoon to help the host Eddies win their own Edwardsburg Invitational championship.
Klosinski (103) and Schmitt (160) were both undefeated on the day as was the Eddies. Sturgis finished second with a 4-1 record, while Jimtown (Ind.) was third at 3-2 and Maple Valley fourth at 2-3.
Dowagiac and White Pigeon rounded out the order of finish with records of 1-4 and 0-5 respectively.
Besides Klosinski and Schmitt, Edwardsburg also had Josh Williams (285), Cameron Warren (119), Ryan Ackles (140) and Rick Krassow (145) go undefeated on the day.
The Eddies defeated White Pigeon 69-9, Maple Valley 49-21, Sturgis 49-19, Dowagiac 58-18 and Jimtown 38-22 to finish at 5-0.
Dowagiac's lone victory came against White Pigeon, a team it lost to on Wednesday night by criteria.
The Chieftains defeated the Chiefs 39-30. Dowagiac lost to Sturgis 60-12, Maple Valley 50-27 and Jimtown 67-9.
Dowagiac's Ben Luth went 4-1 on the day, as did Sinjin Ownby.
Andrew Hurrle, Michael McNeil and Ricky Roach were all 3-2.
"We as a coaching staff were pretty pleased with most of the kids," Dowagiac coach John Green said. "There was a measurable amount of improvement from Wednesday night until Saturday. It was nice to see some of the things you work on in practice a little more visible on the mat."
