To the editor:
The Dec. 26 American Red Cross Holiday Blood Drive, sponsored by Dowagiac Knights of Columbus and Peninsular 10 Masonic Lodge, was held at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church.
We greatly appreciate the donors' effort during such a busy time of the year, and the effort to brave the icy road conditions to insure their gift of life was available to others.
We were able to collect 36 pints of blood.
We wish to extend a world of gratitude to the following businesses: Family Fare Supermarket and Dominos Pizza for their contributions of finger food and beverages for the Red Cross workers, volunteers and donors; and Chazadina Yakim from Deals on Wheels for advertising the blood drive on their road sign.
Also to be thanked are the local industries for placing posters in prominent places and payroll stuffing of fliers.
The informative coverage by the Dowagiac Daily News and WDOW Radio Station is greatly appreciated.
During the holiday season, with so many people traveling, it is essential that our blood supplies are sufficient.
It is also particularly appropriate to take a little extra time for reflection to appreciate the many blessings we have received.
Of course, no successful blood drive can exist without our frequent donors.
Also very important are the volunteers assisting the American Red Cross Blood Service who took time from their busy schedules to help out.
We would especially like to thank the Greg Nelson family for their help.
The next Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Friday, Feb. 27, at Dowagiac Lions Club.
What a great gift of life!
Thanks again for all your support.
