David R. Hmurovich, 65, of Dowagiac, passed away at his home on Sunday Dec. 21, 2008.
David's life began June 19, 1943 in Rome, N.Y, the son of John B. and Lillian (Pugh) Hmurovich.
He was an employee of LTV Steel for 36 years retiring in 2001 and then worked for AM General in Mishawaka for two years as an electrician.
David loved to bowl and when he was a young man, he was a state champion tennis player in Indiana. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his friends.
David was a member of the Cass County Post No. 1855 VFW, the Dowagiac Moose Lodge, and the Dowagiac Elks Lodge.
His family includes his children David (Tania) Hmurovich of San Antonio, Texas, Candice (Steve) Schriber of Denver, Jennevera Shivley of Lafayette, Ind., Kristina Santana of Dowagiac, Jonathan Hmurovich of Hammond, Ind., Daniel Shivley of Whiting, Ind. and Ashley R. Hmurovich of Dowagiac; seven grandchildren; a sister, Gwen (Tom) Arbuckle of California and a brother Bernard (Charlotte) Hmurovich of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Hmurovich. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home, Dowagiac.
