Two arrested in Benton Harbor drug bust

ST. JOSEPH – Dec. 22 at about 7:45 p.m. the Berrien County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol, executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 182 Lake St., Apt. 2, in the City of Benton Harbor after a week-long investigation.
At the time of the search warrant execution, officers located Julian Donald Boxx, Jerome Randall Bird and two other adult subjects inside this residence.
During the search of the residence, officers reported seizing crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.
Officers also said they seized other evidence of illegal narcotic trafficking.
Under Michigan's civil forfeiture law, officers seized $149 in U.S. currency.
Boxx, 45, of 182 Lake St., Apt. 2, Benton Harbor, was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail on charges of cocaine possession, second offense; and maintaining a drug house, second offense.
Bird, 31, of 3176 E. Britain Ave., Benton Harbor, was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail on three valid warrants for failure to pay child support.
The other two subjects, who were inside the residence at the time of the search warrant execution, were released without any criminal charges being sought against them, according to Det. Sgt. Robert Boyce.
