Master Sgt. Paul Bailey has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for the final three years of his 2002-2008 Hawaii tour.
Bailey, son of John and Bonnie Katlun of Dowagiac, graduated from Union High school in 1987 and immediately joined the Air Force, in which he has been serving for 21 years.
His father, John Katlun, and grandfathers Hans Katlun and Sgt. Maj. Bennett Cash all served their country.
Bailey will test for chief master sergeant for the first time in September 2009.
