CASSOPOLIS – The following activities are scheduled at the Cass County Council on Aging in January:
Jan. 5, 7, 12, 14, 21, 26 and 28, Mondays and Wednesdays: Lunch and Bingo at Lincoln Center, 405 Division St., Dowagiac.
Lunch begins at noon, and may be reserved a day ahead of time by calling (800) 323-0390 or (269) 445-8110.
Discounts available for those over 60. Bingo begins at 1.
Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27, Tuesdays: Chess and Euchre Clubs.
Get together with friends for these two popular games. Chess 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Euchre 1-3 p.m.
Jan. 7 and 21, Wednesdays: Hot Breakfast. A variety of breakfast favorites are available to suit any taste, including eggs, any style, breakfast meat, potatoes, toast, juice, and coffee.
Continental breakfast served daily, 7:30 to 10 a.m.
Jan. 8, Thursday: Medication Drop-off.
Bring in unused, expired or unwanted medications for proper disposal from 10 a.m. to noon.
Medications must be in their original containers and signed in when dropped off.
Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29, Thursdays: Free Weight Class. Work on strength and toning using free weights with instructor Ron Christopher. 6 p.m.
Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30, Fridays: Knitting Club.
Knitters of all skill levels are invited to join the group to share techniques, stories and fun while knitting items to donate to charity. 10 a.m.
Jan. 12, Monday: Movies for Grown-ups.
"Michael Clayton" stars George Clooney as a prosecutor who is working as a "fixer" at a large American corporate defense firm.
Enjoy the film and free popcorn beginning at 1 p.m.
Jan. 19, Monday: COA closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday.
Jan. 22, Thursday: Luau. Enjoy a quick trip to Hawaii without the long flight.
Lunch may be purchased for about $5, with discounts available for seniors. Noon.
Jan. 28, Wednesday: Caregiver's Support Group. Aimed at those taking care of ill or elderly loved ones, the group offers a chance for caregivers to discuss issues, coping strategies and gain support from others.
Care services during the meeting for those in need can be arranged free of charge by calling Suzanne Beurmann at the COA at (269) 445-8110 or (800) 323-0390. 1-3 p.m.
