Ida's life began on Aug. 23, 1919, in Cass County's LaGrange Township, daughter of John W. and Ida (Noris) Heskett.
She was united in marriage to David W. Haskins on April 20, 1946, in Eau Claire.
During World War II she did factory work, but she was a homemaker most of her life.
She enjoyed baking for the holidays and was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for the family as well as doll clothes.
Her loving family includes: her daughter, Pamela (Dale) Hutchings of Dowagiac; her sons, Allan Haskins of Dowagiac and Dennis (Elizabeth) Haskins of Glen Burnie, Md.; her grandchildren, Chad (Laura) Hutchings of Dowagiac and Sara (Chad) Tyrakowski of Dowagiac; great-grand children, Kayleigh Hutchings of Dowagiac and Landon and Taylor Hutchings of Battle Creek; sister-in-law, Ardith Heskett; and brother- in-law, Jerry Gaul.
Ida passed away at the Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008.
She is preceded in death by her husband David in 2002 and by siblings Lula Reist, Jennie Reist, Hazel Frank, Mary Gaul and Chester Heskett.
Private graveside services were held at Riverside Cemetery.
The Eagles Auxiliary is providing a luncheon for family and friends on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Dowagiac.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Cass County VFW Post 1855, Alzheimer's Association, American Lung Association or the Dowagiac Athletic Boosters.
