6 p.m. – Niles NAACP Branch invites you to the annual pre-Kwanzaa program at its regular monthly meeting until 9 p.m. in the community room of Niles District Library. Kwanzaa (Quansa) is a holiday celebrated by many African-Americans Dec. 26 through Jan. 1. It was started in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, professor at California State University, Long Beach. The program will include information about the holiday, the Kwanzaa ceremony, Kwanzaa crafts, special African music and a video about the celebration. Everyone is invited to attend. There will be door prizes and Zawadi (gifts) for the children. The Karamu (feast) will be a finger-food potluck.

4 p.m. – Regular Cass County Board of Commissioners meeting in the commission chamber, Suite 217, 120 N. Broadway, Cassopolis.
