To the editor:
Your community is to be commended for their unselfish, generous and caring people.
Although Hurricane Ike originated many miles from Michigan, Cass County in particular, you were affected by the 11 inches of rainfall.
Many thanks to all those people responsible for the help they provided my daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Steve Kasper, when their home was flooded. Along with the rain there was contamination from fecal material. This is still affecting their home and lives.
Special appreciation is extended to the members of the United Presbyterian Church, Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, neighbors, and even unknown passersby.
Hands on assistance was provided by pumping water, filling sandbags, piling straw bales, moving items out of the rising mess – your time, muscles and thoughtfulness is gratefully acknowledged.
You can all rightfully say you participated in Make A Difference Day!
