Encore Dance Company Dec. 13-14 presents "Making Spirits Bright – A Holiday Extravaganza."
The show includes a new twist on the favorite Parade of the Wooden Soldiers number, dancing elves, Santa and more.
Act I is magical, with toys and sets coming to life.
Act II is very moving, with a light snowfall and rendition of "Mary, Did You Know" – a new addition to Encore's "Heaven's Suite."
There will be 60 area kids performing all your holiday favorites.
To make this a true holiday extravaganza special guests will perform.
From the music department of Encore School of the Arts, piano instructor Kristie Kelley will accompany vocal students Corry Hannapel and Macy Fitzgerald.
A handbell quartet, Grace Notes, will perform as well as the singing Simpson Quartet.
Joining Encore from Southwestern Michigan College is "Select Voices" under the direction of Dave Carew.
The show is sponsored by Imperial Furniture.
"I can't say what my favorite number is," said Amy Rose, director and choreographer. "I love the precision of the senior company's eye-high kicks and I can't get enough of our little elves. The kids have worked so hard, we've had a lot of fun putting everything together."
As part of Encore's commitment to community service, the troupe is participating with "Project Santa."
A drop-off box for new toys will be at Encore until Dec 15 as well as the two shows.
Families in need can contact We Care Inc. at (269) 427-9581.
Children ages newborn-12 will receive new toys, toothbrush/toothpaste and new hats/mittens.
