BENTON HARBOR – Come to Orchard's Mall in Benton Harbor on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to participate in National Family Volunteer Day. The Volunteer Center of Southwest Michigan has invited area nonprofits and civic groups to have hands-on volunteer activities for you and your family to do. There will be at least a dozen activities for you to choose from and you will be able to learn how you can be involved in your community all year long. Help make blankets for kids in shelters, learn how to organize your own mini-food drive, ring the Salvation Army bell, make cards for home bound seniors to brighten their day, make activity kits for kids in the emergency room and many more volunteer activities. Check out the Family Volunteer Day Event and other family volunteer opportunities either on-line at www.volunteerswmi.org or call the Volunteer Center at 983-0912 or 683-5464. The Volunteer Center is a United Way partner agency and this event is made possible with a "Minnie" Grant from Walt Disney Corporation.
