Ring Lardner eighth grade hoop teams suffer split

NILES – The Ring Lardner eighth grade Blue and Gold basketball teams split games with John Young on Wednesday.
The Gold team posted a 53-32 win over John Young to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Alec Brown led Niles with 15 points, while Fritz Findeisel added 13 points and six steals.
Cole Clemens finished with five assists, while Derek Scott and Eric Geadtke both had six rebounds.
The Blue team dropped a 44-30 decision to John Young.
John Franklin and Anthony Bice had 10 and nine points respectively to lead the Vikings.
Rodney Applewhite had nine rebounds.
Ring Lardner will face Benton Harbor on Monday.
The seventh grade Gold team defeated John Young 40-16.
Nick Knoll got the Vikings off to a great start with eight first half points.
Dustin Taggart was the leading scorer with 11 points, while Jeremy Wortham added nine points and seven assists.
Niles also got solid performances from Tyler Clutter, Boston Hand and Austin Ruff.
Niles will travel to New Buffalo today for a 5 p.m. contest.
