Toastmasters holding open house

NILES – Thursday Night Toastmasters will host an open house Thursday, Nov. 13 at Niles Township Hall, 320 Bell Road, Niles, from 6 to 7 pm.
In honor of Veterans Day, the guest speaker will be Pier White. A graduate of Notre Dame, he was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force in 1994 and spent the first three years as an intelligence officer for a fighter squadron stationed in England. He finished as a Major with 12 years of service. He logged over 1000 hours flying fighter aircraft, including 200 hours combat time, flying missions over Afghanistan and Iraq. He is highly decorated but is most proud of being four times awarded the Air Medal and twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The title of his speech is "F-15's over Afghanistan-from 20,000 to ground Zero."
He is a resident of South Bend, Ind. and a Financial Advisor/Portfolio manager for Smith Barney.
