Dowagiac again adopted a temporary winter utility bill payment policy.
These temporary changes are to be implemented for the winter "due period" of November 2008 through March 2009:
Customers will be provided two additional 10-day extensions during this period.
Normally the city does not disconnect any customer's utilities with a balance owed of less than $20. Dowagiac's temporary policy raises the minimum customer account balance for disconnection to $100.
Disconnections of electric utility services for non-payment will not occur if the temperature is projected to drop below 35 degrees any time during the day or night of the scheduled disconnect day.
All other rates and terms continue to be in accordance with the utility ordinance currently in force.
As is the case throughout the year, the city reserves the right by ordinance to disconnect water services if either electric, water or sewer accounts are delinquent, regardless of the temperature.
