Wesley Allen Konkey, 57, formerly of Three Oaks, died Monday morning at Silverbrook Nursing Home in Niles.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan. A memorial service will be Thursday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will take place after the service.
He is survived by his three sons, Stref (Debbie) of Grosse Pointe, Seth (Kelly) of LaGrange, Ill. and Shawn (Tonia) of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren; parents, Anthony and Anne Konkey of Three Oaks; two sisters, Cindy (Dave) Zubik, Sawyer, and Sue (Daryl) Morris, Niles; a brother, Scott of South Bend, Ind.; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Wes was a 1969 graduate of River Valley High School in Three Oaks, where he played varsity basketball
He was a retired lieutenant with the Department of Corrections at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Ind. He loved to travel, and his Chicago Cubs and the game of basketball. He loved life and enjoyed every moment of it. He was known for his great sense of humor and compassionate heart.He made everyone he met feel valued and loved, but his greatest joy was his love for the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. We rejoice that he is finally free and standing with his Jesus.
The family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Association, National Head Injury Association, and Hospice.
