To the editor:
It's time for change. It's time for Judy Truesdell for 78th District state representative.
It's time to turn things in favor of the working families in Michigan, not more of the same.
There are currently efforts in Lansing within the Republican Party to eliminate all unions in Michigan. Privatizing will be their cry. Eliminating good-paying jobs with benefits will be their plan.
They will be pushing to make Michigan a Right to Work state and to eliminate prevailing wage on state-funded projects.
This is nothing more than outsourcing our jobs in Michigan.
Judy Truesdell says no, Right to Work is wrong for Michigan.
Bringing in cheap labor might bring more jobs to Michigan, but at what cost?
Lower wages, no benefits, no pensions and no middle class. Is this what you want?
This will not save Michigan and Judy Truesdell is the only one who gets it.
The elimination of the middle class will bring nothing more than a drain on the expenditures of Michigan and less revenue.
How can they believe this is the answer?
It hasn't worked in the past and it's not going to work in the future.
It's time to get our middle class working again in Michigan, having a positive approach to our economy and respecting our skilled workforce. Passing legislation one day and repealing it the next doesn't get it anymore.
We have been brought to our knees by high gas, diesel, oil and propane prices.
Medical costs have gone through the ceiling with no relief in sight.
College tuition is getting out of reach and food prices are skyrocketing.
And Judy Truesdell is the only one who gets it.
A positive plan and action and decisiveness are the answer, not more of the same.
The middle class is the backbone of America. We are the fuel to the economy. We are the ones who fight the wars and build our ships and planes. We build our roads and power plants, we teach our kids, nurse people back to health. We are America.
Not big business. They only care how much money they can make, where they can get the cheapest labor, no regulations that protect our environment, no safety standards for our workers.
Therefore, China is being built by our businesses, our know-how, our so-called leaders, where business can be unrestrained, unshackled.
Judy Truesdell gets it.
It's time to say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!" and to fight for what we had and for what our leaders so freely gave away.
Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "The liberty of democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of PRIVATE POWER to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself."
That, in essence, is fascism-ownership of government by an individual, by a group or controlling private power.
Friends, this is where we find ourselves today, and Judy Truesdell gets it.
When we say businesses need to pay their fair share for roads, electricity, sewers, etc., they ask for tax breaks, tax abatements and the taxpayers – you and me – have to pay.
But when we ask for a fair wage and Social Security and reasonable health care, they call it redistribution of wealth and socialism.
Well, what do you call sending our economy to the largest communist country in the world?
I call it suicide. Judy Truesdell gets it. Let's build our country once again by patriotic businesses that believe in America and the American worker. We need Judy Truesdell as our 78th District state representative now more than ever.
