Brandywine tunes up for districts with win

NILES – The Brandywine soccer team tuned up for today's Division 3 District Soccer Tournament with a 4-2 win over Marcellus on Saturday in a non-conference match.
The Bobcats sent their seniors out in style with a 4-2 win over the Wildcats.
"All our seniors played a huge roll in the win," Brandywine coach Jim McNamara said. "Every time Marcellus came back we answered them with another goal to keep a comfortable lead."
Brett Gilpin had a pair of goals for the Bobcats, who also got a goal and an assist from Aaron Marquardt.
Nathan Balint scored the other goal. Jake Wieger and Greg Beaver were both credited with an assist.
"Will Coar played a great game in goal, coming up with some fantastic saves," McNamara said.
The Bobcats will host Berrien Springs in the opening round of the district tournament today at 7 p.m.
The winner advances to Dowagiac for the semifinals on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.
