Renee Lynn Crandall married Paul Daniel Bowen Aug. 9, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac. Rev. John Kasper performed their wedding.
The bride graduated from Union High School in 1987 and attended Southwestern Michigan College.
She is the daughter of Larry Waldschmidt and Joan Waldschmidt, both of Dowagiac.
Her father gave her in marriage.
Parents of the groom are Daniel and June Bowen of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Delores Nozicka of Berrien Springs.
The groom graduated from Henry J. Kiser High School in Honolulu in 1987.
Matron of honor was Annette Davis of Decatur, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids included the bride's aunt Diane Elwaer of Decatur and the groom's daughter Michelle Bowen of Elkhart, Ind.
Julie Bowen, the groom's niece, was flower girl. Mathew Mosier, the bride's cousin, was ring bearer.
Best man was Frank Clark of Eau Claire.
Groomsmen included Billy Bowen of Elkhart, the groom's son, and Daniel Crandall Jr., the bride's son.
Billy Bowen and Daniel Crandall ushered guests. Kaleb Kasper provided music for the ceremony. Their reception took place at Dowagiac Lions Club.
Bill Craft's "The Beat Goes On" of Dowagiac provided musical entertainment.
The newlyweds will make a wedding trip to Hawaii in December.
In the meantime, Hawaii came to Michigan. Paul's mother flew in leis for the wedding and the couple added a lei exchange as part of their service in the Hawaiian tradition.
The women all had haku leis for their headpieces and white orchids around their necks while the men wore maile leis.
The bride wore a white satin A-line dress with a scalloped sweetheart neckline and beaded apple red lace rose pattern with a chapel-length train.
She carried red roses, white carnations and baby's breath.
