ST. PAUL, Minn. – U.S. Fred Upton R-St Joseph, one of Sen. John McCain's earliest supporters and co-chair of Michigan for McCain, arrived Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis-St. Paul for this week's historic Republican National Convention that will officially nominate Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin to be President and Vice President," said Upton.
"However, first and foremost in our thoughts are the folks in the Gulf Coast region who are preparing for Hurricane Gustav. Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents along the Gulf Coast and we will do whatever is necessary to assist in the relief effort."
In addition to Upton, Monday's energy panel featured former New Jersey governor Christine Todd Whitman, who also served as the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.); Reihan Salam, an associate editor at the Atlantic; and Martha Marks, president of Republicans for Environmental Protection.
