KALMAZOO – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jack Hoogendyk released a campaign video Thursday on YouTube.
The video focuses on Sen Carl Levin's, D-Mich., lack of leadership on three critical issues for Michigan.
The first issue is U.S. dependence on foreign oil and Levin's failure over 30 years to act on domestic production or alternative energy.
The second is Levin's failure to address the 400,000 lost manufacturing jobs in his home state of Michigan.
The third issue that has cost Michigan taxpayers millions of dollars is the senator's refusal to support English as the official language of the United States.
"For 30 years, Carl Levin has failed to act on issue after issue that affects the pocketbook of every Michigan family. We are more dependent on foreign oil today than we were when Levin was first elected. Michigan has hemorrhaged manufacturing jobs despite Levin saying for 30 years that he is fighting to protect the jobs of working-class families. To become a citizen of the United States, you must be able to speak English. Why, then, are we spending millions of tax dollars on bilingual education and multiple forms in different languages?" asked Hoogendyk.
"If elected to the Senate, I will reduce our dependence on foreign oil by voting to drill here and drill now. I will vote to reduce the tax burden on U.S. manufacturers, making America once again competitive in the world economy. And I will vote to make English the official language of the United States."
