St. Joseph nips Niles at West jamboree

NILES – The Big 16 Conference West Division golf chase is shaping up to be a two horse race.
St. Joseph let league-leading Niles know that it wasn't going to hand the Lady Vikings the division championship.
The Lady Bears edged Niles by three strokes on Monday 213-216 to win the second division jamboree at Lake Cora Golf Course in Paw Paw.
The jamboree was hosted by Mattawan, which finished a distant third with a team total 252.
Benton Harbor did not field a full squad for the second straight jamboree.
Sarah Crabtree led the Lady Vikings with a 51. Lena Cramer was second with a 52, while Meagan Horn shot 56.
Niles also got a 57 from Ali Landraf, a 61 from Sara Stenstrom and a 62 form Jordan Brown.
The division will return to the links on Wednesday at the Big 16 Tournament at Pine View Golf Club near Three Rivers. Play is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
