T.G. "Tom" and M. Virginia Light of 1516 Orchard Lane, Niles, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Tom Light married the former M. Virginia Hartley of New Buffalo at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac on Sept. 11, 1948.
The Lights have lived in Niles for 55 years, coming from Michigan City, Ind.
Mr. Light has owned and operated Light's Barber Styling Shop in Niles since 1965. He retired in 1992. The Lights also own "The Chalets" resort at Sister Lakes.
Mr. Light is a member of: the St. Joseph Valley Masonic Lodge No. 4 of Niles; the Valley of Grand Rapids Scottish Rite; the B.P.O. of Elks Lodge No. 1322; the Knights of Columbus Council 708; the American Legion Post 0225; the Michigan United Conservation Club; the AARP; and Moose Lodge No. 449.
Mrs. Light retired in 1986 from Brandywine Public Schools where she was an elementary principal for 20 years. Mrs. Light is a member and former officer of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Beta Epsilon Sorority, and Berrien and Cass County Association of Retired School Personnel and AARP.
Their children, Thomas G. Light and Jan of Sister Lakes, Pamela J. Whitmyer of Niles, Gregory S. Light and Theresa and Bradley M. Light and Vicki of Niles will host a 60th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at 326 Ullery Road, Niles from 3 to 7 p.m. Friends are most welcome to attend.
Grandchildren Kellee, Tanya, Natasha, Ashley and Lizzey with great-grandchildren Mya, Alisjah, Haylee, Jared, Aaliyah and Dion will also be hosts.
