CASSOPOLIS – On Sunday, Aug. 10, the 59th LaPorte Reunion was held at the home of Jean LaPorte, wife of the late James LaPorte. Hosting was their family.
The reunion is held each year in memory of the late George Hull Laporte and Carrie Mary Theresa (Pierson) LaPorte.
Of the nine children born to them, only one remains, Ward Wesley LaPorte. Two sisters-in-law remain and there are only two aunts in the LaPorte family left, Dorothy (Edmunds) La Porte, wife of Ward LaPorte and Jean (Murphy) LaPorte, (wife of the late James La Porte).
There were 98 family members present and six guests.
Traveling the furthest was Ruth (LaPorte) Jerue and daughter from Iowa.
The oldest gent was Ward LaPorte and oldest lady was Jean LaPorte.
The youngest member was little Sedria Audav. There were four births and two marriages recorded. We were happy to report no deaths this year.
It was a nice day with lots of good food to eat. Lots of fellowship and reminiscing among the family members and guests.
Next year the reunion will be held Aug. 9 at the home of Ward and Dorothy La Porte. Their family will be hosting.
