Granville "Bobby" Brown, 87, of 18338 Chain Lake St., Cassopolis, died suddenly of natural causes at 7:20 Sunday morning, Aug. 17, 2008, at Lakeland Medical Center, Niles, after an illness.
Born Jan. 8, 1921, in Calvin Township to the late Preston and Minnie (Hawks) Brown, He was a retired auto body repairman.
He worked for Gates Chevrolet in South Bend, Ind., for 28 years, then for 18 years at Jim D's Body Shop in Dowagiac. He last worked for his son at Brown and Son's Collision, Cassopolis.
A lifetime area resident, on March 24, 1942, in South Bend, Mr. Brown married the former Leona A. Evans. His wife died Sept. 21, 1993.
Surviving are: three sons, Tom (Darlene) Brown of Cassopolis, Roy (Deborah) Brown of Columbus, Ohio, and Mike (Michelle) Green of Constantine; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Theola Hollis of Lansing.
A sister, Doris Steele, and a brother, Preston Brown, precede him in death.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Church of Cassopolis with the Rev. Christopher Pittman, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Community Chapel Cemetery, Calvin Township.
Visitation will be conducted Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis.
Mr. Brown belonged to the Church of Cassopolis.
Memorials may be made to the Church of Cassopolis.
