Saturday, Aug. 9
10 a.m. – Sister Lakes Lions Club's fifth annual Rod and Classic Car Show until 4 p.m. at Lions Club Park, 66991 95th Avenue.
4 p.m. – Cassopolis Class of 1968 40-year reunion at Dowagiac Elks Lodge.
5 p.m. – Sister Lakes Lions Club Swiss steak dinner until 8 p.m. at its clubhouse in Lions Park, 66991 95th Ave. The menu will include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet corn on the grill, tomatoes, rolls and beverage. The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available from Lions Club members or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds go to support Lions Club projects, including building and grounds improvement.
Wednesday, Aug. 13
6:30 p.m. – Program at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Leach Road, Sister Lakes, on working waterfronts, "Planning and Preserving the Maritime Traditions of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor," by Kenneth Pott, executive director, The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center, since May 2000. Pott will lead a discussion on Great Lakes maritime traditions and their importance to the social, cultural and economic past, present and future of Michigan. He will also briefly address how his museum in St. Joseph will be working to promote community awareness about this subject through a new exhibit and related preservation and educational activities. Future programs in Sacred Heart's book and movie discussion series include: Sept. 20, "Mary's City of David History and Museum" by Ron Taylor; and Oct. 8, "Celebration of All Saints Day."
Friday, Aug. 15
9 a.m. – Keeler United Methodist Church, Hartford, is having a big rummage sale today until 5 and on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items include clothing of all sizes, household goods, bikes, furniture, antiques, collectible brass locomotives, an Ol' Sleepy Eye pitcher, a Navajo rug and much more.

10 a.m. – Cass County Democratic Party fall convention at party headquarters, Cassopolis.
